They must have a Social Security Number (SSN) and U.S. address to pass the Know Your Customer (KYC) check. If the SSN issuance was very recent, we cannot guarantee that the student will be in the government databases.
Although some banks will let international students create accounts in person with other forms of identification, Hydrogen's KYC check is entirely digital. If the SSN and address do not show up in the government databases, the KYC check will fail. There is no way for us to check documents manually.
