Most banks, credit card companies, and apps pull back raw transaction information from Visa, Mastercard, POS systems, and financial transactions. This data is what we call "uncleansed." There is usually strings of numbers and characters attached to transactions. This is helpful for the processor, but is ugly and confusing for the end user. Also, many companies are setup as different corporate entity names than how they market their business to the general public - e.g. you make a $10 purchase at Johnny's Cafe, but it will show up on your statement as ZeusInc231939.
Here is a real transaction from Hydrogen's corporate bank statement:
G*ADS29482048202 SUPPORT.GOOGL CA
This is of course a Google AdWords transaction. You can imagine how this can be confusing to an end customer that purchases many products through Google. This is where Hydrogen's data cleansing can help. We have proprietary algorithms that attempt to "cleanse" the data pulled in for your users. We will compare the transaction versus other similar transactions, matching the proper name. We also can add the logo of popular merchants, and delete unnecessary numbers and symbols.
In the example above, here is how our data cleansing will fix this transaction:
Google AdWords
The Hydrogen data cleansing service is included in the Plasma Add-On.
